St Anton remains a real village (though the 5 star hotels are beginning to creep in) but with skiing as the key focus, Lech remains very much a pretty remote alpine hideaway for those with plenty of cash, the skiing is very good but maybe without some of the rougher edges found in St Anton. Your Arlberg ski pass allows you to ride the linked areas of St Christoph and Stuben, and (via bus) the resorts Lech and Zürs which all offer great snowboarding terrain, with amazing amounts of powder. The Arlberg region offers a fantastic mix of wide open areas for beginners, long cruising reds and ski routes for intermediates and advanced plus some serious off-piste challenges for expert skiers and boarders. With an excellent ski lift system servicing 340km of pistes, you can be up on the slopes in no time.
St. Anton is not an easy area for beginners and we are not the easiest students. Martin has given us fantastic lessons with incredible patience. He pushed us positively, so that we made the most of it, have overcome our fears and, above all, we had a lot of fun at the piste (Lekker Fred).

I've been to St Anton for seven two-week holidays, but last one was about ten years ago. Back then the lift tickets and accommodation were good value for money. It was great snow, lots of variety, and the town does have a pretty loud nightlife. (There are laws against having the volume at Longhorn level though.) You didn't mention the food.
